A man in a pickup truck failed to elude Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs Thursday afternoon in a high-speed pursuit around the Minburn area.

A caller on Baker Street in Minburn reported an erratic driver about 3:45 p.m., according to Dallas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tom Peterson. Deputies located and attempted to stop the vehicle east of Minburn, but the driver instead sped away with law enforcement in pursuit.

The pickup reached speeds of 80 mph while traveling westbound on 180th Street at Pioneer Avenue.

The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle on a curve in the 12000 block of Midland Trail, where the truck came to rest in the south ditch, and the driver was taken into custody without incident about 4 p.m.

The Dallas County EMS was summoned to the scene to treat the driver for what appeared to be a facial laceration. He was later transported to the Dallas County Hospital in Perry.

The identity of the driver and the cause of his flight are unknown at this hour.
