PELLA — Central College sophomore and 2015 Perry graduate Claire Marburger was recently chosen for a spot on the All-IACC First Team.

The Dutch finished 9-16 overall and 2-14 in league play under head coach Chelsea Petersen, who resigned her position after three years of leading Central as head coach.

Marburger scored 433 points as a freshman and topped that this year, finishing with 463 points, ninth best in school history. Seven times this season she scored at least 25 points in a game and finished the year with seven double-doubles (double figures in at least two statistical categories in a single game).

A three-time INA First Team All-State player as a prep, she holds the Perry girls school mark for career points with 1,853 and is well within range of topping that mark against collegiate competition.

Marburger led the IACC with 18.3 points per game in league play and was fourth in the conference with 7.7 rebounds per contest. Her 14 blocks ranked seventh in the IACC, as did her 93-of-204 (46 percent) field goal accuracy. She was also seventh in the league in free throw accuracy after splashing 68-of-80 (85 percent) at the charity stripe.

All statistics used for All-IACC consideration are from league games only.

Claire is the daugher of Dan and Elizabeth Marburger and is majoring in Business Finance.
