March 8 deadline set for new Wall of Witnesses nominations

The Perry Historic Preservation Commission, in collaboration with the Fullhart Carnegie Charitable Trust doing business as Hometown Heritage, is seeking nominations for notable local figures to be added to Perry’s Wall of Witnesses, the city of Perry announced Friday.

“The Wall of Witnesses, located in Soumas Court, recognizes those who have gone before us and stand as witnesses to our care of the community and those who set the course both in the present and in the future,” according to the city statement.

Nomination applications for individuals to be added to the Wall of Witnesses can be picked up at the McCreary Community Building, the Perry Public Library, the Perry City Hall or from one of the Perry Historic Preservation Commission members: John Palmer, Ronda Onken, Judy Marckres, Jeanette Peddicord, Eugene Peel, Gary Martin and Joe McCarty.

Nomination applications should be returned to Perry Historic Preservation, P.O. Box 545, Perry, IA 50220 and must be received by March 8.

According to the city, statement, the Perry Historic Preservation keeps prior nomination applications on file, so if you have already submitted an application for a particular person, rest assured that the application remains on file, and the person will be considered in this year’s nomination process.
