Marilyn Ione Maloney Paulson, 81, peacefully passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, comfortably at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family.

She was born on Oct. 26, 1934, in Austin, Minn., to Ralph and Marvina Maloney.

She graduated from St. Augusta High School in Austin in 1952.

After high school, Marilyn went to work as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co.

Marilyn married the love of her life, Jarvis L. Paulson, July 31, 1954, in their hometown of Austin, Minn. After getting married, Marilyn and Jarvis moved to Perry, Iowa, in 1957 where they raised their family and would reside for 23 years.

In 1980, they relocated to Independence, Mo.

Mom’s greatest joy in life was her family and her faith.

Her many activities included the painting, music and fitness. She spent many years volunteering at her church, and she never missed a grandchild’s ballgame.

In later years, mom and dad enjoyed their time spent in Hawaii and Florida during the winter months.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marvina Maloney; and her brother, Daryl Maloney.

Survivors include her siblings, Sister Darlene Maloney of Rochester, Minn., her twin sister, Mary (Bing) Weiss of Virginia, Minn., and her youngest sister, Dorothy (Brian) Callahan of Prior Lake, Minn; her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Jarvis; five children, Cathy Paulson of Kansas City, Lynn (Gary) Reeves of Punta Gorda, Fla., Beth (Darrell) Davis of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Nancy (Kevin) Burton of Ozawkie, Kan., and James Paulson of Independence, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 at the Meyers Blue Springs Chapel. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.
