Mary Ann Fenelon, 78, passed away Aug. 26, 2016, in Tallahassee, Fla.

Mary was born in Adel, Iowa, Nov. 18, 1937.

She lived in Perry, Iowa, for most of her life and worked in healthcare at Woodward State Hospital School for 28 years.

She had three children from her first marriage to the late Harold Edwards and one child from her second marriage to the late William Fenelon.

Mary enjoyed bowling, following stock car racing, the Iowa Hawkeyes, bingo, Elvis and keeping up with her family. She was a member of the Eddie Miles Fan Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Association.

Her life was characterized by her love and compassion for everyone and everything. No person or animal was too lost, too hurt or too small for her loving attention and help—everything she ever had she willingly gave to anyone in need.

Mary is survived by her brother, Lewis Atkins of Jamaica; and her son, David (Gwen) Edwards of Manteca, Calif.; her daughter, Sheryl (Kelly) Clouse of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandsons, Adam Edwards of Petaluma, Calif., and Vincent Burkhart of Harcourt, Iowa; great-grandson, Alex Burkhart of Harcourt; and nephews, John (Celestina) Atkins of Harker Heights, Texas, Pat (Jennifer) Atkins of Perry and Cory (Richele) Atkins of Perry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nile and Vera Atkins; brother, Ray Dean Atkins; son, Dale Edwards; and daughter, Debra Burkhart.

Interment will take place at Violet Hill Cemetery Friday, Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m., with words of comfort provided by pastor Rick Gates. Family and friends are welcome to attend. A gathering of friends and family will be held immediately afterwards at the Hotel Pattee Lounge. Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of arrangements.
