Mary Beth Sayre Fox, 67, of Woodward passed away on Oct. 23, 2024. Services will be held at a future date.
Mary was born to James and Phyllis Sayre on March 29, 1957, in El Paso, Texas. She was the ninth of 13 children born to the family.
Mary spent her first few years in El Paso and Las Cruces, New Mexico, until the family moved to Boone.
She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and then transferred to United Community High School, where she graduated in 1975.
Mary worked most of her adult life at the Woodward Resource Center, where she cared for individuals with disabilities and other related disabilities from throughout the state of Iowa.
She retired from working eight hours a day and took up caring for family members as they needed.
Mary was an avid pet lover and could be seen walking her dog, Griffin, through the streets of Woodward at all hours of the morning.
On the 1st day of March, 1997, Mary married her husband, Richard A. Fox, and enjoyed the next 27 years with her best friend and spouse.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James and Phyllis Sayre; and brother, James Sayre.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Fox; stepsons, Brock Fox and Gavin (Stephanie) Fox; grandchildren, Ridge, Sawyer, Jack, Chad, Brad, Jasper and Daniel; brothers, John (Patrice) Sayre, Bob Sayre, Dick Sayre, Jerry (Stephanie) Sayre and Paul Sayre; sisters, Kitty Sayre, Toni (Gene) Ridgway, Sandy (Joe) Osborn, Peggy (Lee) Johnson, Jan (Steve) Barrett, Jo (Gary) Johnson and Anna (Shelly) Sayre; and too many nieces and nephews to mention here, but she loved you all.
