Mary ‘Maggie’ Marguerite Radebaugh of Galesville, Wis.

Mary “Maggie” Marguerite Radebaugh, 92, of Galesville, Wis., and formerly of Jamaica  passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018, with family and friends by her side.

She is survived by her daughter, Rita (Michael) Connors; her grandchildren, Megan (Jason) Elliott and Ryan (Katie) Connors; and her five great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Andrew and Annalise Connors and Frank and Emilia Elliott; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Dwight Radebaugh; son, Donald “Donnie” Michael Radebaugh; father, Daniel Simmer; mother, Lydia Simmer; brother, LeRoy (Erna) Simmer; and sister, Maxine (Kenneth) Peoples.

Born in Jefferson, Iowa, Maggie grew up in Jamaica, Iowa, where she was a pillar of the community for 86 years.

Over the years, she worked at the Jamaica Post Office and the Perry Lutheran Home and owned the Jamaica tavern with her husband, Don.

Maggie was also a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Jamaica American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed organizing and attending community events in Jamaica, watching college football and basketball, playing bingo and was a revered pinochle player.

In 2012 she moved to Wisconsin to be close to her daughter, Rita, and spent her final years at the Marinuka Manor in Galesville, Wis.

From happy hours every Friday to theater outings, trips to the vineyard and local restaurants, Maggie enjoyed an active social life up until the very end.

She will be remembered by those who knew her well as hard-working, tough, quick witted and loving.

Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the devoted friends and family who visited from near and far and especially to the dedicated staff at Marinuka Manor, who sincerely loved and cared for her every single day.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Marinuka Manor, 19475 Silver Creek Road, Galesville, WI 54630.

A mass will be held Tuesday, July 31 at 5 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Holmen, Wis., with visitation at 4 p.m. On Aug. 5, Christian burial will be at 12 p.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery north of Jamaica. A celebration of Maggie’s life will follow at 1 p.m. at the Community Building in Jamaica, Iowa.

Hastings Funeral Home in Perry handled the local arrangements.
