Mary Seeman, 82, of Woodward passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at her home in Woodward, Iowa.

Mass of Christian burial will be held n Friday, Sept. 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 29 from 5-7 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery at Dallas Center, Iowa.

Mary Ann Seeman was born Sept. 20, 1940, in Grimes, Iowa, to Russell Weaver and Margaret Ann (Toigo) Smith.

She graduated from the Assumption Catholic School in Granger.

Mary was united in marriage to James Carl Battani at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger. They later divorced.

She worked as a resident treatment worker at Woodward Resource Center for 30 years.

Mary was a very devout Catholic. She was member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Granger for 81 years and recently transferred to the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry and was very active in her church and church activities.

She enjoyed gardening and then taking pictures of her flowers and posting them on Facebook.

Mary loved cooking and spending time with her family.

She enjoyed feeding birds that came to visit her garden.

When she wasn’t gardening, Mary watched her favorite teams, the St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeyes.

In death she rejoins her parents, Russell and Margaret Smith.

Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her children, Lisa Battani of Perry and Jeffrey (Kim) Battani of Ankeny; grandchildren, Zachary (Amber) Battani of Pleasant Hill, Matthew (Joanna Frankford) Battani of Ankeny, Kathryn (Blake Brewer) Battani of Woodward, Mia Battani of Iowa City, Kaylee Battani of Iowa City, Heather (Ryan) Hoyme of Woodward and Bradley Fuson of Clive; great-grandchildren, Brayden Andorf, Liam Hoyme and Callum Battani; siblings, Janet (Jimmy) Greif of Dallas Center, Betty (Jim) Tamisiea of Phoenix, Larry Smith of Littleton, Colorado, John (Kathy) Smith of Burlington, Iowa, and Monica (Brad) Lawrence of Woodward.

Memorials will be given to the St. Patrick Catholic Church and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
