Nearly 20 vendors filled the gymnasium of the McCreary Community Building Saturday for the 13th annual holiday craft show, but vendors said business was slow this year just as it was at last weekend’s art festival in downtown Perry.
The former Brenton Bank sponsored the event for 15 years as an early-October craft show, but the shows ceased after Wells Fargo acquired Brenton Banks Inc. in 2000. Bev Wesely of Perry revived the annual craft fair in 2005 and has been assisted by longtime Perry resident Jennifer Milne.
“Perry’s arts and crafts festivals help usher in the holidays,” Wesely said, “and put us all in the spirit of the season.”
