A jolly spirit reigned Tuesday afternoon at the Spring Valley campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes, where the sixth annual Christmas Tour of Homes and Wine Walk kept residents and guests enlivened with Christmas music, wine, cheese, nativity sets and door prizes.

Four tenants at Spring Valley campus — Pam Maher, Nylene Hansen, Gloria Renshaw and Doris McCorkle — opened their holiday homes and warmly welcomed guests for a tour of their Christmas-themed rooms. The Fireside Room and a respite apartment were also decorated in holiday style.

In the community room, musician Randall “Doc” McCaulley, a perennial crowd favorite, tickled the ivories with Christmas carols, and the festively dressed Perry Lutheran Home staff members greeted visitors and explained the logistics of the tours.

“This event is a great time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones,” said the Rev. Max Phillips, CEO of the Perry Lutheran Homes.

In addition to Christmas décor, a variety of nativity sets were on display throughout the Spring Valley campus, and guests were encouraged to count the number of nativity sets and make their best guess for a chance to win a door prize.
