Michael “Mike” Walzer, 64, of Sheldahl passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at his home in Sheldahl, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
Michael “Mike” Jack Walzer was born June 30, 1958, in Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental, Germany, to William Ferd and Marjorie Mae (Knight) Walzer.
He attended school in Perry.
Mike was united in marriage to Sheila Davidson, and together they had two sons, Tyler and Bradley. They later divorced, and he married Paula Haynes Walzer, and they had one daughter, Hailey. They later divorced.
He worked at Sunstrand Corp. in Ames and then Woodward State Hospital until his retirement.
Mike was a member of the St. Martin Episcopal Church in Perry.
He enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, camping, fishing, hunting, Harley Davidson motorcycles, watching his children’s softball and baseball games and going to Hailey’s dance recitals.
Mike loved all the kids in his neighborhood, attending family gatherings, joking around with family and friends and his dogs.
In death he rejoins his parents, William and Marjorie Walzer.
Left to cherish Mike’s memory are his children, Tyler (Erin) Walzer of Polk City, Bradley Walzer of Urbandale and Hailey Walzer of Iowa City; siblings, Kathy (Fred) Sawdy of Urbandale, Laura (George) Klesel of Boone and Scott (Jodi) Walzer of Des Moines’ and his longtime girlfriend, Jennel Clarke.
