Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs examined the scene of a motorcycle crash that ended a hot pursuit along the Raccoon Valley Bike Trail Sept. 26 near Minburn. One man was injured in the chase.

A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday night in Minburn when he crashed his dirt bike after trying to outrun Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs.

The incident began about 7 p.m., when a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff reported he was pursuing a four-wheeler and a dirt bike in Minburn. The vehicles soon left the city streets, and the chase continued northward on the Raccoon River Valley Trail near the Heartland Cooperative.

The vehicles parted ways, and the deputy continued to follow the motorcyclist, who proceeded northward on the bike trail as far as 150th Street and K Avenue south of Perry at speeds of 60 mph.

The dirt biker drove then eastward on 170th Street and southward on L Avenue before re-entering the RRVT corridor southbound, with law enforcement in hot pursuit.

The motorcyclist eventually lost control of his vehicle near the Heartland Cooperative anhydrous ammonia storage facilities off of 187th Road, where he was taken into custody without incident about 7:15 p.m.

The driver was treated at the scene by the Dallas County EMS and later transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with unknown injuries.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office is investigating the incident at this hour and could not release any information.

The Minburn Fire and Rescue also responded to the incident.
