The Minburn Firefighters Association has landed a grant from Aureon, a business support company headquartered in West Des Moines, thanks to their nomination for the honor by Minburn Communications.
The Aureon Charity Grants rabge from $250 to $1,500 and support projects committed to the betterment of local Iowa communities.
The Minburn funds will be used to purchase several pieces of wild land firefighting equipment including new backpack sprayers, hand tools and personal protective equipment for firefighting.
“The timing of acquiring this new equipment is nearly perfect,” said Rescue Captain Dan Case of the Minburn Fire and Rescue, “as we’re entering a period of the year where we tend to see the frequency of accidental wild land, agricultural and other outdoor fires increase as farmers begin harvesting crops and vegetation begins to dry out,”
Case said the Minburn Fire District includes a wide variety of outdoor environments that require protection.
“We protect areas ranging from wooded areas along the Raccoon River, several miles of the Raccoon River Valley Trail, grasslands and obviously thousands of acres of crop ground,” he said, “so the addition of this equipment will help us better respond to fires in all of those environments. Without grant funding we would be unable to complete projects like this.”
Debra Lucht, CEO of Minburn Communications, said her company “appreciates the efforts of Minburn Fire and Rescue. Their passion and dedication to protecting our community greatly impacts us all. We are proud to partner with Aureon to make this grant possible.”
Aureon CEO Ron Keller said that “Aureon is delighted to support nonprofit organizations that enhance the quality of life for Iowans. We look forward to aiding future community-improvement projects and extend our best wishes to Minburn.”
