A Minnesota man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly assaulting a West Des Moines woman in her condo while his three minor children accompanied him.
Zevin Isia Chad Turner, 24, of 5669 180th St. W., Farmington, Minnesota, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault, first-degree burglary and three counts of child endangerment.
The incident occurred about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 6500 block of E. P. True Parkway, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance.
The officers determined that Turner allegedly “forced open a patio door to the victim’s residence,” entered and allegedly “slapped the victim in the face, knocking her glasses off of her face,” and he “intentionally and recklessly inflicted bodily injury upon the victim,” according to court records.
Accompanying Turner were his three children, whom he allegedly placed “in a situation that posed a substantial risk” to the children’s “physical, mental and emotional danger,” according to court records.
Turner is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $32,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 16 in Dallas County District Court.
Turner was convicted of domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood in in 2020 in Polk County District Court.
