Perry's Noah Wilkening chips his third shot toward the pin on the par-5 second hole at the Woodward Golf and Country Club in action from last season. Wilkening led Perry Tuesday with a 41 against host Ballard.

HUXLEY — Head coach Nick Field is not one to make excuses, but given the hand the Perry boys golf head coach was forced to play Tuesday, he would have been excused for doing so.

With three varsity members missing, Perry provided little challenge to host Ballard, who waltzed to a 156-201 victory in a Raccoon River Conference dual Tuesday.

Ballard’s Nick Baumhover seized medalist honors with an even-par 36, with teammate Aiden Fitchko the runner-up medalist at 38. The Bombers also used the 39 provided by Sage Fitchko and the 43 shot by Noah Hartman.

Rounds of 43 from Lane Shaeffer, of 44 from Jaden Moody, of 46 from Colby Jensen and of 47 from Gannon Manfull were not used for the varsity score.

Noah Wilkening led Perry with a 41, with Ryan Rathje shooting a 50, Tanner Duffy a 54 and Luke Rathje a 56. Also playing, but not having their score used for the varsity total, were Brody Kimrey (58), Tyler Soll (67), Devan Patrick (67), Justin Stammer (68) and Gabe Ridnour (75).

Perry returns to action Thursday when they host Greene County and Des Moines Christian at the Perry Golf and Country Club. Tee time for the triangular is 4 p.m.
