Christmas Eve is a lovely time for a drive in snowy woods but not for the kind of drive taken by a motorist on the westbound Iowa Highway 210, who drove straight through the T-intersection south of the Woodward Resource Center about 7 p.m. Thursday and came to rest in dense brush about 50 yards off the roadway.
The Woodward Fire and Rescue and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the single-vehicle mishap. There were no injuries.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s office also responded to the incident after Boone County law enforcement declined to the call. Although the incident apparently occurred inside the legal boundary of Boone County, authorities in that jurisdiction purportedly claimed the incident occurred in the incorporated area of Woodward and so was “not in our area.”
