An unknown motorist fled the scene of a literal hit-and-run accident Saturday evening after jumping a curb and striking a tree in a residential neighborhood of Perry.
The Perry Police Department responded to the 6 p.m. incident at 12th and Evelyn streets, where the female driver left her Ford F250 running and ran eastward from 12th Street in the alleyway south of Evelyn Street, according to an eyewitness.
The witness said the vehicle was traveling southward on 12th Street and turned westward on Evelyn when it left the roadway and struck the tree on the southwest corner of the intersection.
The driver was described as a teenage female.
The incident is under investigation at this hour by the Perry Police Department.
