Curb-level flooding is now occurring on 18th Street at Iowa Street in Perry, just south of the Perry Child Development Center.
Flooding is also occurring on 26th Street just north of the Super B Motel, where the supercharged storm water sewer has lifted a manhole cover from the roadway.
Motorists should avoid this area and use an alternate route until the flood waters reside.
“If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find alternative route,” a Perry Police Department spokesperson said. “The Perry Public Works Department is putting up barricades near the flooded areas, and officers will be patroling Perry’s streets, looking for additional flooding.”
