Multiple people were injured, including a number of children, when an SUV crashed on a gravel road west of Dawson Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred about 11:15 a.m. in the 12100 block of Beaumont Place just north of Greenbrier Creek.

Law enforcement radio traffic indicated there were six occupants of the vehicle, including three found unconscious at the scene and a 5-year-old who was receiving CPR.

Two life flight helicopters responded to the mishap as well as multiple public safety agencies. Some victims were transported by air ambulance, and at least one person was transported by Dallas County EMS to Blank Hospital in Des Moines.

The SUV came to rest on the east side of Beaumont Place. It appeared to have sustained significant front-end damage.

The accident is under investigation at this hour by the Iowa State patrol, which has not released any information.
