Murder warrant ordered for suspect in death of Ames woman

A warrant was issued Monday for the arrest of Richard G. Fleck, also known as Rashaud Sims, 33, for the first-degree murder of Ranea Bell, 37, of Ames.

AMES, Iowa — An arrest warrant for first-degree murder was issued Monday for Richard G.  Fleck, 33, as a suspect in the death of an Ames woman.

The lifeless body of Ranea Bell, 37, was found about 7 p.m. Saturday in an apartment at 407 S Fifth St. in Ames, according to the Ames Police Department.

Evidence inside the apartment led investigators to conclude that Bell death was the result of a homicide, a police statement said.

Law enforcement is seeking Fleck, also known as Rashaud Sims, who is believed currently to be in the Kansas City, Missouri, area, but he also has ties in Texas and in Mississippi, according to police.

Fleck is a black male, standing 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He has tattoos on his neck and hands.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department are assisting in the investigation, according to police.
