Neva Clark of Panora

Neva Clark, 93, daughter of Aaron and Faith (McClatchey) McKay, was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Albert Lee, Minn. She passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at the Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

Neva graduated from Panora High School and went on to Normal Teaching School. She taught country school for about two years.

On May 20, 1945, she married William Emmer Clark at the Methodist Church parsonage in Yale, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Joyce and Robert.

They made their home on a farm near Panora for about two years. They then moved to a farm southeast of Yale before buying their own farm near Yale.

Neva enjoyed helping her husband run the farm and continued to live there after Emmer passed away in 1989.

In 1995 Neva moved into Yale. She made her home at Lakeside Village in Panora for the last four years.

Neva enjoyed playing cards, traveling, bus trips and helping out with whatever was needed at the Prairie Center Methodist Church. She was a member of the Prairie Center Methodist Church, the UMW and the Yale Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Dennis) Colton of Okoboji; son, Robert (Carolyn) Clark of Yale; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Glen McKay of Sun Lakes, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmer; and sister, Merna Baxter.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3 at the Twigg Funeral Home in Panora. Burial was at the Prairie Center Cemetery in rural Yale. Visitation was Thursday, Nov. 2 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be left to the Prairie Center Church or the Yale Methodist Church.
