Kyle Nevitt threw a two-hitter and Nic Fellom drove in a pair of runs to help Perry post a 5-1 Raccoon River Conference win over Boone at Progressive Field Thursday.
Nevitt allowed one run on just two hits and three walks while striking out six in earning the complete-game victory.
Boone scored in the top of the first when Danny Anderson led off the game with a walk. He swiped second, moved up on an out and then scored when Tyler Newbold grounded out to first base.
Perry posted three runs in the second inning, with consecutive errors setting up the rally.
Nevitt and Kade VanKirk were both aboard on back-to-back miscues when Janier Puente swatted a RBI-single. Fellom followed with a two-run double to right field, pushing Perry into a 3-1 lead.
Fellom sparked a two-run Perry fifth with a lead-off single. Zach Roberts added a single, with Nic Wilhelmi’s base hit plating Fellom. Alex Long — running for Roberts — scored moments later when Blake Lansing provided a sacrifice fly.
Storm Wagner went five frames for Boone, allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits. Dresden Wilson tossed the sixth inning for the guests. The Toreador pitchers had one strikeout each.
Perry hosts Bondurant-Farrar tonight, with Ballard to visit Thursday for a varsity doubleheader.
