The city of Perry’s new $250,000 street sweeper was on the job Thursday, tidying up the curbs and gutters around the town. The Perry Public Works Department first made a capital request for the new unit during the 2018 fiscal year but had to wait until the 2020 fiscal year for its purchase.

In other ongoing city improvements, workers from Busy Bee Construction were seen along 16th Street this week as the water main replacement project proceeded. The $620,000 water main replacement project comprises a 20-block area and involves the laying of about 526 linear feet of 10-inch pvc water main, 1,349 linear feet of 8-inch water main and 2,936 linear feet of 6-inch water main.
