New Dallas County DOT driver’s license center to open Tuesday

Arrangements are coming together in the new Iowa Department of Transportation driver's licensing center at 1156 S.E. Ashworth Road in Waukee. The facility will open Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The Iowa Department of Transportation will open its new Dallas County driver’s license center Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 1156 S.E. Ashworth Road in Waukee.

The Iowa Department of Transportation will open its new Dallas County driver’s license center Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 1156 S.E. Ashworth Road in Waukee. Friday, Jan. 17 is the final day for licensing services in Adel at 918 Court St.

Hours at the Ashworth Road Iowa DOT center will be:

Tuesday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The state offered to take over the licensing function from the Dallas County Treasurer’s office in November 2018.

  1. My wife and I have gone to either Boone or Jefferson for our last several DL renewals. With this move, it gives us even more reason to keep going out of Dallas County. Both these places have had no lines to wait in and very friendly staff to help you. I feel very sorry for those people who have trouble navigating the traffic in the Des Moines metro area or new drivers going there to take a driving test.
