Perry's Kato Dougan (5) tries to run wide on a sweep after a handoff from Jacob Nelson (20) in Friday's games at Greene County. The foundation of varsity football is in youth teams, and the new Perry grade 3-4 squad is looking for additional players.

Perry will soon begin competing in the Metro Youth Football League with a new team composed of players in grades 3-4.

However, there is still a need for players, as an expanded roster will allow additional players to be introduced to the game and experience playing time.

Coaches have received specialized training required by the league, which emphasizes safety while introducing the game at an increased level of understanding from year-to-year.

Registration forms can be picked up at either the Perry Elementary or Perry High School offices. Teams practice twice each week.

Cost for grade three is $60 and for grade four $100, both substantially less than the fees charged by the other communities in the league. Financial assistance is available. Those in need are asked to email BluejayYouthFootball@gmail.com.

Registration deadline is Friday.
