New varsity cage coach among many personnel moves at PCSD meeting

Dennis McDonnell was officially hired Monday as the new varsity boys basketball head coach at Perry. He joins the Bluejays after serving last season as head coach for the Iowa Christian Academy Trailblazers.

Dennis McDonnell was officially hired as the new varsity basketball head coach at Monday’s meeting of the Perry Community School District Board of Education.

McDonnell comes to Perry from Iowa Christian Academy and will replace Ned Menke, who resigned this spring to focus on his new position as Perry Elementary Co-Principal.

Other hires include Jordan Bettis as Elementary ELL teacher, Daniel McGinnis for 7th grade math and as assistant middle school boys track coach, Amanda Myers as Elementary Special Education teacher and Alyse Garcia as NHS Advisior, with Brandon Weeks also to serve as a NHS Advisor.

Also approved was the hiring of Melanie Harmon as assistant high school swim coach, James Prombo as middle school boys track head coach, Casey Young as assistant high school girls track coach, and Chris Marks as middle school publications supervisor while Cherie Tiffany was hired as .50 bus driver.

The following resignations were accepted: Preston Ade as Elementary Special Education teacher, Eddie Diaz as Social Studies teacher and NHS Advisor at the high school, Allisa Bahney as assistant softball coach, Adam Bloom and Seth Marburger as assistant high school baseball coaches, Trevor Kittleson as middle school boys track head coach, and Marc Shalkowski as middle school football head coach.

Resignations were also accepted from Kris Finn as high school cheer sponsor and Linda Huntington as high school cheer sponsor (football and basketball) and from both Cara Bronnenberg and Cassie Maldonado as PACES assistants.

Modifications were made for Julie Elliot from BA+12/13 to BA+24/13 and for Michelle Laughridge from BA+24/6 to MA/6.
