Katelyn Whelchel (7) takes a short toss from Sidney Vancil to force an out at second base against ADM Friday.

For five innings Perry kept visiting Carlisle in range, but the fifth-rated Wildcats erupted for five runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to claim a 14-3 win in Raccoon River Conference softball at the PAC Monday.

Single tallies in the first and second frames and two runs in the third put Carlisle (12-1, 4-0) into a 4-0 lead, but Perry was holding their own until the guests broke through with a five-run spurt in the top of the sixth.

Perry (1-7, 1-4) got on the board in their half of the sixth when Johanna Diw reached on an error and Victoria Hegstrom followed with a two-run blast to left, the first Jayette hit since a first inning single from Emma Olejniczak.

Agatha Beier hit a solo home run and Abby Davis a two-run shot in the seventh as Carlisle scored five times to open a 14-2 margin, a gap trimmed by one tally when Alyssa Kruger tripled and scored on Katelyn Whelchel’s RBI-ground out in Perry’s last at-bat.

Olejniczak allowed 14 runs on 16 hits in seven frames in the circle. She walked two batters and struck out two, with six of the Wildcat runs that scored marked as unearned.

Perry visits Greene County tonight. The Rams (10-0) are rated third in Class 3A and have outscored their opponents a combined 94-39 while hitting 25 doubles, six triples and seven home runs.
