The city of Perry does not observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so all city offices will be open Monday, Jan 20, including the Perry Public Library and the McCreary Community Building.

There will be no change to garbage routes during the week of Jan 20 to Jan. 24.

However, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed by the Perry City Council, which has rescheduled its Monday, Jan 20 for Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building at 1102 Willis Ave.

Observance of the annual holiday honoring the assassinated American civil rights leader was first suggested to the council in 2018 by second-ward Perry City Council member Dr. Randy McCaulley and was first observed by the city leaders in 2019.

For more information, call the Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481.
