Fire and smoke seriously damaged an apartment unit in eastern Perry early Monday evening.
No injuries were reported in the blaze at the Perry Housing Inc. residential complex at 2833 Eastern Ave., which was reported shortly before 5 p.m.
“It’s pointing towards an electrical fire,” said Perry Volunteer Fire Department Chief Grason Hill of the cause of the blaze.
Officers of the Perry Police Department were the first public safety personnel on the scene, and they fought the blaze with fire extinguishers until the arrival of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
The Dallas County EMS also responded.
The six-unit complex was built in 1975, according to county records.
