The Nudgers non-profit investment group received $7,000 Monday night at the 10th meeting of the 100+ People for Perry donors club. The Nudgers have renovated and restored several dilapidated buildings in Perry’s downtown business and cultural district.
The 70 members of 100+ People for Perry met in the Cellar at La Poste and heard three of their members each make a pitch on behalf of a randomly selected project, with the Nudgers winning the vote.
Project summaries were also provided by previous winners, the Perry High School Research and Design program and Perry Alano Club for drug and alcohol recovery.
One Hundred+ People for Perry’s mission is to invest in Perry’s future by supporting current charities, non-profits and other worthy projects that advance the quality of life. Since its founding, the group has contributed $66,000 to ten local projects.
The group makes four large donations each year, and each gift stays 100 percent in the local community. No national charities are be considered. Each recipient must be a 501 (c)(3) or sponsored by a 501 (c)(3), be project based and must benefit the Perry community.
All community members are welcome to attend, and new projects worth considering are always welcome.
The next 100+ People for Perry meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m., with a social hour starting at 6:30 p.m., at the La Post LLC.
