Numerous All-State honors collected by Panorama pair

PANORA — Senior Devyn Kemble and junior Bailey Beckman each had outstanding seasons for the Panorama girls basketball team, and the rewards continued to roll in for both this week.

Both topped the career 1,000 point mark this year, Beckman doing so two games before Kemble as the pair became only the fourth and fifth Panthers in school history to enter the “grand” scoring club. The pair were selected as Class 2A All-Region 6 players by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association after helping lead Panorama (23-2) to the state quarterfinals and were both named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association 2A Central All-District team as well.

The IGCA named Beckman to their 2A All-State Second Team, with Kemble named to the Third Team. Beckman was also chosen to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association 2A All-State Second Team.

Kemble, who will continue her playing career at Northwestern College, averaged 13.9 points and five rebounds per game this season. She hit 51-of-131 (38.9 percent) 3-pointers and 52-of-73 free throws (71.2 percent) while making 50 assists, coming away with 69 steals and blocking nine shots. The athletic forward finishes her career with 1,047 points, 403 rebounds, 202 assists and 254 career thefts.Kemble was also chosen by the IGCA to play on the Select Team, one of three 10-player 2A squads, in the Larry Niemeyer senior All-Star Series April 8 at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.

A standout in the classroom as well, Kemble was one of only 23 players statewide to earn Academic All-State status. The honorees each boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA and an average ACT score of 29.9, with 15 of the 23 ranked either first or second in their class.

Point guard Beckman ended her junior year with 1,108 career points, 289 rebounds, 136 assists and 209 steals. She is a blistering 292-of-371 (79 percent) at the foul line in three seasons.

Beckman averaged 17.9 points per game this season while pouring in 443 points. She buried 45-of-132 3-pointers (34 percent) and connected on 98-of-115 (85.2 percent) of her free throws. Beckman finished with 83 rebounds, 42 assists and 79 steals.
