NWS issues wind advisory until noon Wednesday

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines has issued a wind advisory for the Perry area from 3 p.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday.

Northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph are forecast, with gusts up to 50 mph. Peak winds are expected near daybreak Wednesday.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle.

Along with Dallas County, the wind advisory applies to Butler, Bremer, Hardin, Grundy, Boone, Story, Guthrie, Polk, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren, Adams, Union, Clarke, Taylor, Ringgold and Decatur counties.

Along with Perry, the wind advisory applies to Parkersburg, Clarksville, Shell Rock, Greene, Aplington, Allison, Dumont, Waverly, Iowa Falls, Eldora, Ackley, Grundy Center, Reinbeck, Conrad, Dike, Wellsburg, Boone, Ames, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair, Fontanelle, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, Corning, Creston, Osceola, Bedford, Lenox, New Market,  Mount Ayr, Lamoni and Leon.
