ADEL — Perry failed to score for 14 minutes through the middle of Friday’s contest, helping host ADM record a 38-14 win in Raccoon River Conference girls basketball action. The Jayettes (1-8, 0-3) were held under 15 points for the third time this season as the Tigers saw their record move to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Perry trailed, 5-4, after one quarter and were down, 8-7, with five minutes to play in the first half. ADM opened a 13-7 lead at the break, and moved their advantage to 23-7 before Perry scored their next points — nearly two minutes into the fourth quarter.

Molly Lutmer had a basket and made a 3-pointer, and Isabel Saemisch converted two free throws to account for Perry’s seven points before the break. Saemisch added two more free throws, Lutmer knocked down a triple and Gabby West scored underneath for Perry’s second half points.

A frustrated Perry head coach Chris Morrow said changes would be in store before Tuesday’s road game at Winterset, and that how drastic those changes are will be decided by the team itself.

“I can tell you Natalie Martinez is going to see some playing time,” Morrow said. “She is only 5-2, but she was out there hustling and listening to what I was saying. Molly Lutmer has bought in as well, and she has been playing hard and not pointing fingers and complaining, and I expect she will see time on the floor.”

“All playing time is open, and is going to have to be earned,” he added. “I am not so concerned with wins and losses as I am with effort and buying in to what we are trying to achieve. Whoever shows me they want to compete and play with energy is going to see plenty of playing time.”

Abbie Hlas led ADM with 11 points, with Emma Jacobsen adding nine points as nine Tigers entered the score book.

Perry will cap their pre-holiday slate by hosting Ogden Thursday for a “Pack the Gym” night. Jayette alumni are encouraged to attend, as former head coach Mike Long will be honored between games. Long won 566 games in 40 years while guiding the Jayettes, reaching the state tourney four times and leading Perry to the state championship in 2002.
