The Perry girls played 64 minutes of regulation basketball Thursday and Friday. They scored a total of 47 points.

Those offensive struggles led to a pair of Raccoon River Conference losses, with Bondurant-Farrar posting a 67-32 win Friday after fifth-ranked Ballard had stifled Perry, 52-15, Thursday.

The Jayettes (6-15, 0-14) will meet the Lady Jays (13-8, 7-7), in Bondurant, Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a Class 4A Region 7 contest. The winner travels to take on host and 12th-ranked Grinnell (15-6) Feb. 22, with the R7 Final played at the highest remaining seed at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. Gilbert awaits the Knoxville vs. Des Moines Hoover winner in the opposite side of the bracket.

B-F had ripped Perry, 76-35, in their Jan. 21 meeting, but the Jayettes — who were outscored 31-2 in that opening quarter — were clearly in no mood, at least early on, for a repeat.

Playing without starter Jayna Kenney and top reserve Ashley Cerna — both out with illness — the hosts kept things close early and led, 17-16, after eight minutes of play Friday.

B-F was unimpressed, rattling off a 10-0 spurt to grab a 26-17 lead and then outscoring Perry 18-6 the rest of the way to open a 44-23 gulf at the half. The guests began the third quarter with another 10-0 run, with the Jayette deficit widening to 60-25 by the time the four quarter began.

The Lady Jays repeatedly attacked the Perry 2-3 zone, using crisp diagonal passes and easy dribble penetration to dump the ball into the low post or else to have wide open shots when the ball was sent back outside.

Kate Fogarty had 17 points, Abby Fried 13 and Katelyn Lappe 12 for B-F, with Taylor Berggren adding nine points and Riley Gilroy five. Three points from Brenna Petersen and two each from Mia Miller, Case Waterhouse, Lauren Osborn and Kaylee Seitzer finished the scoring ledger.

Molly Lutmer led Perry with 14 points, with Lydia Olejniczak tallying 10 points. Both sank a pair of 3-point shots.

Ainsley Marburger contributed four points, with two points each from Kennedy Tunink and Hannah Peterson creating the Perry total.

Thursday’s game was over almost as soon as it began. Ballard led, 21-4, after one period, then used a 17-1 second quarter to open a 38-5 lead at the intermission en route to the win.

Josie Fleischmann and Molly Ihle had 13 points each for the Bombers, with Cassidy Thompson adding seven poitns, Lily Hillebrand six and Kylie Rigby five while four others had two points apiece.

Seven points from Lutmer, five from Olejniczak and three from Peterson were all the Perry offense could muster.
