Seven area fire departments responded to a commercial structure fire that destroyed a downtown Ogden grocery store Saturday night.

There were no injuries reported in the blaze that gutted the Ogden Mart at 302 W. Walnut St. in Ogden. The fire was reported about 8:15 p.m.

Joining the Ogden Volunteer Fire Department in fighting the massive blaze were volunteer fire departments from Boone, Boxholm, Grand Junction, Jefferson, Paton and Pilot Mound.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to law enforcement.

The store at the southwest corner of Walnut and S.W. Third streets was built in 1899, according to Boone County records. It was purchased by Brent N. Clark in 1999 for $60,000 by Brent N. Clark from Harlan and Shirley Dubansky.

The business was operated as Clark’s Food Mart from 1999 until it closed in November 2018. It reopened in January 2019 as the Ogden Mart, operated by Rup Khanal and Ranga Humagain.
