Omaha FBI office seeks information on Ankeny pipe bomb

The FBI and ATF are asking the public for any information regarding the pipe bomb found March 2 near the Lakeside Center in Ankeny.

OMAHA, Nebraska — The FBI Omaha Des Moines Resident Agency and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are asking the community of Ankeny and the general public for any information regarding the pipe bomb found March 2 near the Lakeside Center in Ankeny.

Tips can be submitted to omaha@fbi.gov or by calling 402-493-8688, and when prompted press 1.

The Lakeside Center facility was being used as a polling place for an Ankeny Community School District special election when the bomb was found. District voters approved a plan for spending the state Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) fund, a penny sales tax dedicated to capital improvement projects.

The FBI office also said it has been made aware of reports last year of sporadic, loud, explosive noises throughout the city of Ankeny. Some of the reports have been described as louder than a gunshot or a firework. If you heard such a noise, you are asked to report it to omaha@fbi.gov or call 402-493-8688, and when prompted, press 1.
