One arrest, injuries in ‘altercation’ early Monday

An Oelwein woman was transported by the Dallas County EMS from the Perry Police Department to the Dallas County Hospital about 2:45 a.m. Monday.

At least one person was arrested and one was injured following an “altercation” early Monday in downtown Perry.

Charges are pending at this hour in the incident, and law enforcement is not releasing any information at this time.

The Dallas County EMS was paged about 2:30 a.m. Monday to the alley behind the Wells Fargo bank in the 1200 block of First Avenue for a party to an “altercation.”

One person was transported by ambulance to the Dallas County Hospital about 2:45 a.m. from the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave.

The cause of the altercation and circumstances and extent of the injuries are unknown at this hour.

Radio traffic about 3:30 a.m. by law enforcement indicated a positive field test for methamphetamine was performed, but it is unknown whether this action was related to the earlier events.

The Perry Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Perry First Responders and Dallas County EMS responded to the incident.
