One treated for smoke inhalation in Perry house fire Wednesday

A house fire in the rear of 522 Third St. in Perry Wednesday about 9:45 p.m. was knocked down before it got out of control.

Officers of the Perry Police Department controlled the fire at 522 Third St. Wednesday night until the arrival of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.

A fire was reported about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in a house at 522 Third St. in Perry.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by the Dallas County EMS.

Officers of the Perry Police Department responded to the house fire and controlled it with fire extinguishers until the Perry Volunteer Fire Department arrived and deployed exhaust fans to clear the structure of smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this hour by the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.

The 102-year-old, two-bedroom house is a rental unit owned by Diaz Corp. LLC, according to the records of the Iowa Secretary of State. The Diaz Corp. was administratively dissolved in August 2017 for failure to file a 2017 biennial report with the state.
