At least one worker was injured when a fire broke out about 10:15 p.m. Thursday at Osmundson Manufacturing Co. west of Perry.

According to public safety radio traffic, one burn victim was transported by private vehicle to the hospital prior to the arrival of the Perry First Responders and Dallas County EMS.

A worker at the scene said he did not know what caused the fire, but he said he saw a large flame leap from floor to ceiling near the center of the plant. The factory was evacuated.

Smoke but no flames were visible when the Perry Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the plant. The Perry Police Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s office also responded.

Some 100 workers are employed at the 142,000-square-foot factory, which opened in 1973 and produces tillage tools for agricultural companies around the U.S.
