Optimists gain member, receive state visitor Wednesday

The Optimist Club of Perry welcomed its newest members to their ranks at the group’s February meeting Wednesday night in the Cellar.

Optimist Club Past President Dr. Randy McCaulley presented a membership certificate, packet and pin to Linda Andorf, a retired teacher in the Perry Community School District who now sits on the school board of directors.

Fewer than half the club’s 30 members attended. Optimists Clark Wicks and Cole Adair were commended for doing yeoman’s duty during January as managers of the Optimist Club Can Corral at the Bluejay Market.

Mark Feilman of Ankeny, incoming Optimist Club governor for the Iowa region, visited the Perry Chapter and congratulated the members as making one of the largest among the state’s 65 Optimist Clubs.
