The 100+ People for Perry donors club held its 14th session of local giving Monday and pledged $7,300 to the PACES Summer Learning Program.

Perry’s Academic, Cultural and Enrichment Services (PACES), a before-school and after-school program for children of Perry’s working parents, is hosted by the Perry Community School District but receives no district programming funds. The program is self-supporting through grants and donations.

The 100+ People for Perry also received a project summary by the previous quarter’s recipient, Larry Laborde of the Perry Alano Club, who described the Alano expansion project.

After three-and-a-half years, the group has pledged $95,600 to fourteen local projects.

One Hundred+ People for Perry’s mission is to invest in Perry’s future by supporting current charities, non-profits and other worthy projects that advance the quality of life. According to the donors club guidelines, a charity, non-profit or worthy project that is selected will be ineligible for reconsideration for three consecutive meetings following its selection.

The 100+ People for Perry group makes four large donations each year, and each gift stays 100 percent in the local community. No national charities are be considered. Each recipient must be a 501 (c)(3) or sponsored by a 501 (c)(3), be project based and must benefit the Perry community.

All community members are welcome to attend, and new projects worth considering are always welcome.

The next  100+ People for Perry meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug, 26 at 7 p.m., with a social hour starting at 6:30 p.m., at the La Post LLC.
