Sandra Banales, left placed third, Adamaris Rivas, middle, placed second and Emely Hurtado placed first in the third grade poster contest at the 2017 PACES Lights On After School.

In light of Wednesday’s chilly weather, this year’s annual Lights On After School program hosted by PACES (Perry’s Academic Cultural and Enrichment Services) will be a virtual event, with student laps in the fitness centers from 3-5 p.m. followed by a livestreamed program from 5-6 p.m., according to PACES Director Mary Hillman.

Everyone is still welcome to attend the online event, which focuses on the importance of after school programs like PACES, which is celebrating its 21st year of serving Perry. Students, parents, teachers, the public and, especially, former PACES students are encouraged to attend online.

Hillman said there will be guest speakers, proclamations from the mayor and superintendent, student performances and awards presented for the Lights On coloring, poster and essay contests.
