Pair of wins caps Panther regular season at 8-8

PANORA — Consecutive home wins over Boyer Valley Thursday and Coon Rapids-Bayard Friday helped Panorama finish their softball regular season with an 8-8 mark. The Panthers topped BV (3-6), 10-3, Thursday, and then dispatched CR-B (3-15), 16-6, in five innings Friday.

Freshman Jazmyn Sellers had a game to remember Friday, conquering the Crusaders with a home run and three doubles. She drove in five runs and scored four times.

Jaidyn Sellers had a single and a double with three RBIs, with Grace Weber adding two hits, three runs and a RBI, with Shey Storesund adding two hits, three runs and one RBI. Storesund, Jaidyn Sellers and Zoey Hambleton each had two steals, with Webner and Angel Poldberg also swiping bags.

Grace Richey allowed six runs (three earned) on eight hits. She walked one batter and struck out five.

Richey yielded three runs (one earned) on six hits and two hit batsmen in earning the win over the Bulldogs Thursday. She finished with seven strikeouts.

Claire Woodworth had a double and two RBIs and Storesund a single, three runs and a RBI. Jaidyn Sellers had two hits, two RBIs and two runs, with Jazmyn Sellers providing two hits.

Panorama faces host Van Meter (13-8) Wednesday in a Class 2A Region 2 Quarterfinal. The winners will play Friday, at Earlham, with the ninth-ranked Cardinals playing the winner of the play-in game between Madrid and West Central Valley. The Regional Final is slated for July 20 at a site to be determined. All games will begin at 7 p.m.
