Panorama 1-2 in Thursday quadrangular

VAN METER — The Panorama wrestling team competed three times Thursday, returning to Panora with a 1-2 record.

Panorama was a 44-24 winner over Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas, but suffered a 48-34 loss to Interstate-35 and a 45-19 setback against host Van Meter/Earlham. The home team finished 3-0, defeating I-35 by a narrow 39-36 margin while besting SW/M-D, 57-19. A 59-24 win for I-35 over SW/M-D was the other dual at the event.

Fourth-ranked junior 152-pounder Wyatt Appleseth was 3-0 for Panorama with wins by technical fall, decision and forfeit, with Landon Goodenberger 3-0 at 160 with two pins an a decision.

Also 3-0 were 138-pounder Ryan Fees, who won by major decision, decision and fall, and 182-pounder Cooper Anderson, who pinned two foes and won by major decision against the other.

Emry Colby, ranked 10th at 145, finished 2-1 with victories by both pin and decision, with James Hein using a pin and a forfeit to post a 2-1 mark at 220 pounds.

Logan Christe was 1-1 with a pin at 126 and a 4-2 loss at 120, with the Panthers leaving 126 open twice and 120 once. The team also left the 113 and 285-pound weight classes uncontested.

Both Dillon Bennett (170) and Keyton Van Gundy (195) were 1-2, with each winning by pin, while Jaime Thorpe (106) and Kael Wirt (132) were unable to collect a win in any of their three matches.

Panorama will return to the mat Saturday when they travel to Corning for the Southwest Valley Invite.
