Panorama battles on the mat at CR-B Invite

COON RAPIDS, Iowa — Panorama finished third in a six-team field at the Crusader Invitational Saturday.

Bedford/Lenox edged South Central Calhoun, 460-456, for the team title, with Panorama third at 260 and West Central Valley fourth at 247. Saydel (182) and host Coon Rapids-Bayard (38) completed the field.

Senior Cooper Andersen was the lone champion for Panorama. Ranked fourth at 220 pounds in Class 1A, the Panther standout moved to 22-0 on the season with two wins, both by pin. The victories required just 25 seconds and 1 minute, eight seconds.

Landon Kirtley (14-12) was the runner-up at 120 pounds, with teammate Tage Monahan (2-3) third at that weight. Kirtley was 3-2 with a 7-2 decision, a pin in 3:40 and a win by forfeit, with Monahan 2-3 with a pair of wins by pin.

James Hein (6-2) was also second for the Panthers, doing so at 182 pounds with a 3-1 mark that included a trio of pins.

Finishing third were Lane Christe (15-9 at 106), Cayden Van Meer (17-8 at 145) and Issac Monroy-Nunez (3-2 at 285). Christe was 1-2 with a pin, Van Meer 3-2 with two pins and technical fall and Monroy-Nunez 2-2 with a pin and a decision.

Will Knapp (14-10) was 2-2 with two pins to place fourth at 126, with Colby Waltz (2-3) fourth at 170 despite dropping all three of his matches.

Landon Goodenberger (2-3) was 2-3 with two pins to finish fourth at 160, with Gabe Wagner (0-5) unable to find his way to a victory in five matches at 160.

Also in action was Maddox Nunn (3-17). He was winless in four matches in placing fifth at 132.

Panorama will travel to Afton Thursday to join host East Union in a quadrangular that will also include Martensdale-St. Marys and SW Valley. Panorama will then be one of 17 teams competing 17 at the Perry Invitational.
