SHENANDOAH — For the second consecutive weekend the Panorama boys basketball team has claimed wins on a Friday evening and followed up with a Saturday afternoon triumph.

Saturday’s victim was host Shenandoah, who fell to Panorama, 56-52, in overtime in their non-conference affair. The Panther win followed a 50-40 victory over visiting AC/GC Friday in WCAC play. Panorama is now 5-11 overall and 3-10 in conference action.

The matinee game Saturday was an even affair almost the entire way. The teams were knotted as 12-all after one quarter, with Panorama holding a 21-20 halftime lead before Shenandoah tied the score, at 29-all, entering the fourth quarter.

The Mustangs (2-11) held a 45-44 edge with a minute to play, but regulation ended with 46 under each team name on the scoreboard, forcing four minutes of free basketball.

The Panthers scored the first six points to open a 52-46 lead and held on from there.

Zac Rizzuti had 13 points for Panorama and Tanner Godfrey 11, with Gracen Welberg providing nine points and Luke South seven. Six points apiece from Jack Weinkoetz and Malachi Peasley and two apiece from Michael Allen and Kolby Shackelford capped the scoring.

Trevor Bauer had 22 points form Shenandoah, with Drake Polsley tallying 13 points, Mason Silence nine, Josh Lehman six and Dusitn Lembrick two.

Panorama finished with a decided edge at the free throw line, sinking 16-of-23 as opposed to just 7-of-15 for the hosts.

The Panthers were coming off a Friday contest that was also nip-and-tuck at times. AC/GC (3-13, 2-11) held a 13-11 lead after one frame, but Panorama responded strongly to take a 27-18 lead into the intermission.

The Chargers — a 61-54 winner in Guthrie Center earlier this season — fought back to tie the game at 29-all entering the final frame, but the Panthers used a 21-11 burst to split the series.

Welberg led Panorama with 16 points, with Rizzuti adding 13, Shackelford 10, South six and Peasley five.

Bryce Littler had 11 points for the guests, with Caden Wardyn and Quynton Younker adding nine points apiece. Noah Nelson had six points, Will Byers three and Noah Sargent two.

Panorama is at Madrid Tuesday before visiting Van Meter Friday.
