Panorama boys, girls soccer blank visiting Logan-Magnolia

PANORA — The 11th-ranked Panorama girls moved to 4-0 overall while the Panther boys raised their mark to 3-2 after each squad blanked visiting Logan-Magnolia Tuesday.

The Panther girls have scored 38 goals in their first four games and have yet to be scored upon, with Ashley Clark collecting the shutout in goal Tuesday.

Audrey Cmelik scored five goals to lift her season total to 10, with Ella Waddle adding her eighth and ninth goals of the campaign. Paige Cmelik produced her sixth goal of the season and both Chloe Webster and Deanna Solorzano their second scores to cap the offensive onslaught.

Goals from Audrey Cmelik in the second and 14th minutes opened a 2-0 lead, with Paige Cmelik scoring off Waddle’s fourth assist of the season in the 21st minute to make the margin 3-0. The halftime score become 4-0 when sophomore Ella Waddle scored with one second remaining in the half off the sixth assist of the spring from her senior sister, Jaelyn.

Scores in the 44th minute from Audrey Cmelik and in the 48th from Ella Waddle created a 6-0 gap, with Audrey Cmelik scoring off a throw-in play in the 50th minute. Unassisted goals from Audrey Cmelik and Webster followed, in the 54th and 58th minutes, respectively, with Solorzano ending the game via the mercy rule when she scored with 7:19 remaining.

Panther girls co-coach Curt Thornberry praised the back-line play of Bryn Steffen, noting the defensive contributions of Jaelyn Waddle as well. Webster was noted for her strong play in the midfield in place of an injured Kennedy Kuta.

The Panorama boys followed the girls onto the home pitch, and there won their third match of the year, already topping the two wins recorded last season.

Mitchell Dickson had a hat trick, his three goals upping his season take to 10. Trent Hambleton scored twice, raising his total to three, with Brayden Hoffman adding his first varsity goal. Panorama led, 6-0, at the half.

Kyle Cogil defended the goal for the hosts and collecting the shutout.

The Panorama girls will travel to Ballard Tuesday, with both squads visiting highly-regarded Treynor April 25.
