MADRID, Iowa — The Panorama Girls basketball team traveled to Madrid Tuesday evening and came home with a win, defeating the Tigers 58-23 and extending their West Central Conference record to 9-0.

The Panthers started out a little slowly but soon had their communication and teamwork in order. Tyme Boettcher led Panther scoring with 23.

“Our defense had to disrupt their three-point shooters,” said Coach Boettcher. “In the final three quarters of play, the girls were able to make the adjustments and bring pressure to the outside. Our communication of shooters and pressure allowed us to force the ball onto the floor.”

The Panorama Panthers are now ranked 15th in class 2A, and their overall record is 11-1. They play at home Thursday night against Nodaway Valley, and their next conference matchup is Friday night against the Van Meter Bull Dogs.

In Panorama boys action, the Panthers fell to the Tigers 84-58  in Madrid Tuesday night.

The game was a tough one for the Panthers, a physical contest that took all the might of both teams.

Braedon Draper and Klayton Bremer led the team with 17 points each.

The boys will play Thursday at home against Nodaway Valley and then travel to Van Meter Friday.
