WOODWARD — Sixth-ranked Panorama broke open a tie game after one quarter and slowly pulled away to claim a 44-23 win over host Woodward-Granger in WCAC action Tuesday.

W-G (5-8, 3-6) hit several driving shots and played stout defense in finishing the first eight minutes in a 10-10 tie. Panorama (11-0, 8-0) began tightening their own defensive pressure as the first half wore on, with a resulting 13-5 run giving the Panthers a 23-15 lead at the break.

Neither team was crisp offensively in the third quarter, with the guests leading 30-17 as the final frame began. W-G continued to scrap, but Panorama had control of the game and outscored the hosts, 14-6, over the fourth frame to set the final score.

Only four Panthers entered the score book, with Morgan Johnk scoring 18 points and Bailey Beckman 16 while Anna Holloway and Payton Beckman provided five points apiece.

Emma Anderson led W-G with eight points while Katelyn Scharlau had five points and Mae Anderson four. Quinn Kaufman contributed three points, Kayley Dresback two and Lisa Pitman one.

Both team will be on the road Friday, with Panorama traveling to Des Moines Christian and W-G to Van Meter.
