Panorama hits mats Friday at Central Decatur

LEON — Panorama was one of 13 teams competing Friday in the annual Dan Christensen Invitational, hosted by Central Decatur.

Winterset dominated the team scoring with 265.5 points, with Ottumwa (160) and Mt. Ayr (126) posting a distant second and third place showing. Panorama tied Centerville for sixth place in the team standings with 105.5 points.

Class 2A second-ranked 160-pounder Wyatt Appleseth and 220-pounder Cooper Andersen were the lone champions for the Panthers. Appleseth recorded a pair of pins and a 14-1 major decision to claim his weight class, with Andersen winning all three of his battles by fall.

Logan Christe was 4-1 with three pins and a technical fall in finishing third at 126 pounds, with Ryan Fees (152) 2-2 with two pins and Jared Henderson (285) 1-3 with a pin as each placed fourth in their respective bracket.

Landon Goodenberger (170) was 1-3 with a pin to place sixth, with Cayden Van Meer 4-1 with two decisions, a major decision and a pin placing the 145-pounder seventh. Also seventh was Isaac Monroy-Nunez, who was 1-2 with a pin while competing at 220.

The Panthers left the 106, 113, 120, 132, 138, 182, and 195 brackets uncontested.

Panorama will join AC/GC and Southeast Valley at Ogden for a quadrangular meet Thursday, with Saturday’s WCAC tournament at Pleasantville the final pre-holiday action for the Panthers.
